you...

Great questions!  Nearly as good as the questions I ask
you...
I had a friend who had some. I also thought of getting
my own from Amazon, just out of curiosity. Can they locate
people? Can I use them to find that guy I told you about?
What would one use as an anchor? A photograph maybe?
How can it be trained to sniff out smells? Or is it just
to find water?

Do you also own a pendulum? A crystal ball?

I do own a marble sized crystal ball.

As a kid I used a pendulum a lot and had some really
good results, enough to scare me. But I never thought
I needed anything fancy. Anything with weight and a
string, or a thread, would do... a ring... a washer...

Same deal as the divining rods:

Ask it what it will do if the answer is yes.

Then no.

I don't know/won't say.

As far as I know there's four possibilities:

Clockwise. Counter clockwise. horizontal. Vertical.

Four bits of info!

Hold one in each hand.

Extend arms.

Ask: "What will you do if the answer is yes."

Note what the rods do.

Ask: "What will you do if the answer is no."

Note how the rods react.

You may also ask: "What will you do if you can't or won't answer."

Note how the rods react.

You've done coding, right? So you're familiar with binary code and
the concept of computer "Gates."

Yes//No
True/False
0/1

Asking only Yes/No (True/False) questions, you should be able to
come up with even complex answers within 20 questions or less.

Break it down though.

You might want with something like, "Do I have a soul mate?"

And even, "Are they alive?"

Or, "Are they male or female?"

If you wanted to know their age you'd start off with, "Are they
under 50 years old?"

If the answer is yes, next question is: "Are they under 25
years old."

There. In two questions you eliminated 75% of the possibilities.

But for the least possible aggravation imaginable, stick to
simple concepts: "Is my wallet inside my apartment?"

Some people are TONS better at getting correct answers than others.

I went to a psychic once, to ask questions about friend I had
a crush on. That was decades ago. I remember her telling me
that she saw 'Athabasca University'. There was no connection
I could see, and I left thinking she was a quack. I recently
looked up the guy out of curiosity, and his LinkedIn profile
stated he got his Business degree from Athabasca University.

What would be the chances of that happening? I don't really
remember anything else she said, so I was a bit surprised
when I saw that bit of information, decades after the event.

That was a long time ago and I don't feel a connection anymore.
But I wonder if there was anything I should have done if I took
her seriously.
