WASHINGTON (AP) — As it targets Hamas’ underground tunnels in Gaza,
Israel has relied on powerful 2,000-pound bombs provided by the United
States. But now those deliveries are on hold.

The U.S. is pausing a shipment of 1,800 of the bombs, as well as 1,700
500-pound bombs, U.S. officials said. The decision comes as Israel is
planning an assault on the southern Gaza city of Rafah in an attempt to
root out the final elements of Hamas.

With more than 1 million refugees sheltering in Rafah, U.S. officials
are concerned the bombs could inflict massive casualties. Human rights
groups have long said that Israel’s use of powerful bombs has caused the
indiscriminate killings of civilians.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told a Senate panel Wednesday that
smaller, more precise weapons are needed for a densely populated area
like Rafah.

Still, he made clear the decision wasn’t final.

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told
his Cabinet on Sunday that there had been a “dramatic drop” in U.S.
weapons deliveries for Israel's war effort in Gaza, doubling down on a
claim that the Biden administration has denied and underscoring the
growing strains between the two allies.

Netanyahu told his Cabinet that the drop had occurred four months ago,
without specifying which weapons, saying only that “certain items
arrived sporadically but the munitions at large remained behind."

The spat highlights how high tensions have surged between Israel and
Washington over the war in Gaza, particularly surrounding the Israeli
military's conduct in the beleaguered territory and the harm to civilian
life there. President Joe Biden has delayed delivering certain heavy
bombs since May over those concerns, but his administration fought back
last week against Netanyahu's charges that other shipments had also been
affected.

to bits thousands more innocent civilians to make "Israel safer."

He's crying and moaning our free bomb shipments must continue to
eradicate Hamas. He attempted to hide his main gripe with lesser
munitions not being delivered.

Israel needs to make its own munitions and military hardware to keep
its genocidal dreams alive.

Hey Doc, have you ever wondered why Hamas needed all
those underground tunnels? Wouldn't it have been much
better if they'd spent that money to help their people
and turn Gaza into a tourist paradise instead of the

In Vietnam the B-52s dropped 750 & 500 pound bombs.

The 2,000 pound bombs are probably the deep penetrating bunker
busters developed for the Iraq war...

But this says that they're 4,000 pounds! So maybe they really
are withholding 2,000 pound bombs... but delivering 4,000
pound bunker busters.

statements to lie. If they say that they're withholding 2,000
pound bombs then they mean it literally: They are NOT
withholding other types of bombs!

deep underground before exploding, taking out bunkers and
tunnels.
